let it snow…and snow..and snow

February 11th, 2010 , Posted in Lifestyle photography

Wow. I’ve been LAZY on the blog front. I have to admit I sort of hibernated for winter and have some fun things in the works for my photog business and I have been putting my energy into that. Hoping with the arrival of spring I will be able to start fresh with my photography business too with a new logo, new blog and new ideas. Now….here it sure is cold and snowy. We got a total of 3 feet of snow in the last couple days. Yesterday’s storm was 23.3 inches in my town, in 24 hours. Crazy amounts of snow but the kind of snow I remember as a kid. Was very fun for the kids and great for photos!! I took these yesterday during the heavy part of the storm. Enjoy them. I can’t wait till spring.

Stay warm.

Imaging USA-Nashville 2010

January 14th, 2010 , Posted in Lifestyle photography

Oh wow. I am exhausted but oh so inspired from Imaging  USA in Nashville this past week. We met tons of new friends and I had the opportunity to meet up with some of my bestest photography girlfriends. I love getting together with these girls and sharing secrets and taking photos. They are really one of the best little blessings of my life. We spent the days listening to some amazing speakers and attending the convention for lots of cool ideas and free stuff. I love me some free stuff!!! I learned alot about myself this past week and I can’t wait for what the future holds for my business and my life. Here are just a few candids from the convention!! See you next year in San Antonio!!!!

hug them tight

January 3rd, 2010 , Posted in Lifestyle photography

I am going to try to blog more in 2010. I promise. I’m inspired by other photographers who use their blogs like they should be used, to document their life with photos and narrations. I’m going to do that….

I promise not to worry about the quality of the photo..or if the lighting is “just right”. I promise to capture more photos of my kids and blog them.

On that note we happened to hear a story of a young 7 year old girl from our church named Charlotte. She is in a coma and her little 7 year old body is being put through things we can’t imagine as they try to save her life and decide how to best treat her. As I sat in church this morning holding my daughter who will soon be six I thought what an unbelieveable thing to have to go through as a parent. I can’t imagine anything  more devastating than to watch your child suffer and not have the means to “fix it”. Being a nurse I know what Charlotte’s body is going through and the angst her parents must feel being at her bedside. I hugged my daughter a little tighter. I told her I loved her…I thanked God for my kids and I prayed for Charlotte with the rest of my church family. If you have a moment today, hug your kids and tell them you love them and say a prayer for Charlotte. Nothing in this life is a guarentee…..take nothing forgranted.

Blessings.

Happy New Year

January 2nd, 2010 , Posted in Lifestyle photography

It’s day 2 of 2010 and I couldn’t be happier. I’m ready for a new decade. A fresh start. I love the beginning of the year and I’m secretly happy to see the holidays go. It’s so stressful. January is a month of birthdays in our house with 3 out of 5 of us celebrating this month so it feels like Christmas anyway around here. New changes are coming to Kimberly Donohue Photography with a new logo, new blog, new design and new products being offered. I’m so excited to take my business to a new level and ready to give my clients fresh ideas. I’m headed to Imaging USA in Nashville next week and I’m hoping to come back with some new and fabulous ideas! Now….

I had a photoshoot today (in 25 degree temps and 15 degree wind chill) and this gang was very willing to brave the elements for a few outdoor shots. Thank you!! I have known this family for 30 years…..yes 30 years and they have become good family friends to my parents and my siblings. I appreciated the opportunity to photograph them today. It’s always fun hanging out with old friends and catching up while working! Can’t beat that!!! Here are a few shots from today. Enjoy the sneak peak!!!

Cheers to 2010!

a girl and her horse

December 3rd, 2009 , Posted in Lifestyle photography

I had the pleasure of reconnecting with Steph via facebook and she and I enjoyed Kenny Chesney together and she asked if I would take photos of her daughter for her senior pictures. Steph lives on a beautiful piece of property and owns horses so of course we took the opportunity to take photos at her house. Her daughter is absolutely beautiful and truly was a joy to photograph. Here is just a few of my favorites from our session together. Enjoy them.

brothers

November 24th, 2009 , Posted in Lifestyle photography

These two sweet boys were so much fun to photograph I actually had a stomach ache from laughing during their session. Their Mom is super cool and really made taking their photos easy and fun. My photog friends all know how parents can make or break your session no matter how cute the family is! We found ourselves all over their house playing, talking about movies and even outside. Thanks Julie and Jim for allowing me into your home for the morning. I had a great time meeting you and hope you like the photos of your handsome boys.

it keeps getting better

November 17th, 2009 , Posted in Lifestyle photography

This is such an amazing thing to be able to take photos and take a sneak peek into peoples lives if only for an afternoon. I am blessed. My passion for photography has turned into something I couldn’t even imagine and I’m busier than ever but loving every single second of it. This family have been friends of ours for years from church. I find Andrea one of the funniest friends I know and her facebook status’s always have a sense of humor attached to them. She makes me laugh and she is super stylish and has awesome hair. (ok, it’s not envy just saying) I met the family at Daniel Boone homestead and they were willing to do just about anything for fun. I thank you Mowery family for being so cool. You guys are the reason I love doing this. Enjoy your sneak peek.

Love.

a day out

November 8th, 2009 , Posted in Lifestyle photography

We’ve been sick in this house. Who knows if it’s swine flu, the regular flu, the Asian flu but either way it’s been through 4 of us and it’s miserable. Fever, cough, achy, headache. BLAH. I’m not a winter person. I like fall but then I know it will be long, cold, dark days ahead and it makes me sad. I love summer. Ok, back to the post….since we’ve been sick I needed  a day out of the house. I grabbed my camera and my best friend and we went to Ryerss Farm.  A farm for aged equines horses.  It is a retirement facility for aged and/or abused horses.  Founded in 1888, it is the country’s oldest, non-profit organization. Visit the website to learn more about them and to donate. My daughter and I love horses. I’d own one if I didn’t live in a development and owned a farm. They are such beautiful animals. We grabbed a couple shots while we were there and had fun shooting “wide” open on some of them. Enjoy them and stay healthy!

Up for anything

November 3rd, 2009 , Posted in Lifestyle photography

Amanda is the daughter of my friend Andrea who is an ICU nurse like myself. When Andrea asked me to do Amanda’s senior photos I was expecting a typical “teen” session…this was far from a typical session and I loved every minute of it. Amanda came dressed in boots, jeans and a leather jacket only to change 2 more times into a kilt and eventually a beautiful dress. She was able to transform in minutes into 3 total different looks and even was able to change in the local community library. (and then let me take her photos inside the library-to bad my camera has a loud shutter) I promised a sneak peak but honestly I have tons of great shots of her that I can’t wait to share them all. She was up for anything and I hope to get the chance to take her photos again! Thanks Amanda for being so awesome.

Hugs.
