senior season

September 7th, 2011 , Posted in Lifestyle photography

Kelsey and I had to reschedule our session 3 times due to the unbelieveable amount of rain we have received here in PA. I’m secretly glad it rained because we ended up with the most amazing, cool, breezy day to take her pictures. I have known Kelsey’s mom for 20 years and she has become a dear nurse friend. I remember when she was pregnant with Kelsey and now she’s a high school senior. Time sure flies. Enjoy these photos, I could probably post every single shot in her gallery, they were all THAT amazing. Thank you Kelsey (and Nate) for being willing to try anything. Best of luck to you your senior year.

-Kim

P.S. For every 10 comments left Kelsey earns a FREE 8×10 photo. So go ahead, leave some love. Check out Kimberly Donohue Photography on facebook. For 20 new “likes” on my photography page, Kelsey gets more cool free stuff.

I Heart Faces

August 16th, 2011 , Posted in Lifestyle photography

I found the most amazing website via friends on facebook called www.iheartfaces.com. They are running a photo contest entitled “Beautiful Eyes”. I searched through my archives and found a photo I took when I began my photography journey and attended Cheryl Muhr’s Secret Workshop. Not only does this phots and the experience bring back one of the happiest times in my photography career I was also blessed with wonderful friends as a result of that conference. I am entering this because it makes me happy. I would love the votes but I’d also just like to thank everyone for their continued support over the years. Hugs to you and your family!

a family affair

January 22nd, 2011 , Posted in Lifestyle photography

There are times you meet someone and you realize that their personality is something good, something that you want in your life and something that inspires you. That is how I felt meeting Kim. Kim was a fitness instructor at the YMCA where I worked out when I first started getting in shape a few years back. Kim kicked my butt. Kim told me I would not die while making us lift weights, run, squat and push ourselves to the limit. With Kim’s inspiration I ran my first 5K, I got in great shape and I learned to love exercise. I set goals because of her and I found myself blessed to know her. She is now considered a “friend” and I appreciate her kindness and her spirit. Thank you Kim for helping me achieve my fitness goals and thank you for sharing your beautiful family with me.

Till next time.

Blue eyes.

November 5th, 2010 , Posted in Lifestyle photography

I am lucky enough to be surrounded by some pretty awesome young ladies in my life and Jenna is no exception. She has babysat before for my kids and I love her and they love her. She belongs to my church and I know her parents well. They are good people. Really good people. When Jenna asked me to do her senior photos I was beyond honored and very excited. She has the best blue eyes. Ever. I LOVE taking her photos and they always come out so stunning. Jenna was willing to do anything including climbing trains and laying on railroad tracks. I always tell people that don’t expect to leave my photoshoots in clean clothes! LOL.

Enjoy the sneak peek of Jenna’s photos. Best wishes you to friend.

Cheers,

Sometimes there are people we meet during this journey of life that come into our lives and you know they are there to stay. forever. That is how I felt about Dana when I met her at work. Dana is sweet, fun, makes me laugh and makes me feel good just being around her. She has the same sense of style and sometimes I know what she will say before she even says it. Kinda weird, but true. She makes working as a nurse nightshift tolerable and is truly a blessing in my life. Dana and Steve are getting married next October. They asked me to do their engagement photos. I was honored and also nervous. Taking photos for people I love and respect is more nerve wracking then taking them for people I don’t know well. I want the photos to be PERFECT. I want them to reflect everything that the couple is and bring out their personality as a couple. I think these pictures do exactly that…..Dana and Steve are awesome. I laughed so much during this session and I thank them for making my job capturing them easy. You guys rock. I love you. I wish you all the joy and happiness in the world and I am blessed to be your friend.  I had such a hard time narrowing these down. So I’m sharing a bunch. Enjoy!

As a side note Dana is having the fabulous Rachel Clare photograph her wedding. I am not sure who’s more excited. Dana or me.

-Blessings and love.

This session was a session that made me smile from the moment I knew I was going to take their photos. Wendy is a friend of mine from my church. She was a pharmacist. She had a good job. Then God led her to go back to school and she attended seminary and became a pastor. Now God has called her to start her own church. She is truly an inspiration and a wonderful person to just “hang out” with. Her insight and her wisdom are something you need to experience to understand. Wendy’s true battle in life was with infertility. Her and her husband Bob struggled for 6 years to have a baby. They had ups, downs, joys and downfalls along the way. When they gave up hope having a biological child they decided to adopt. The process of adoption is a long, draining, emotional road. It’s filled with forms, social service visits, home inspections oh and more forms. After a long wait they got a call in 2003 that a little boy needed adoption and it was an “emergency adoption” that meant they needed to pick him up within 24 hours. His name was Luke Michael and they were over joyed about the fact they would finally be parents! Sadly, 2 days later they got a call that the birth mother wanted her baby boy back. Pennsylvania adoption laws are terrible and Wendy and Bob were legally forced to drive back and return they little boy they called Luke and loved so much after 2 days. Total and utter sadness filled their hearts.

Then came Sam…..Dec. 22nd they got the call that a little boy in Cherry Hill, NJ who was 2 days old needed a family. Wendy and Bob were ecstatic. They met Sam, he became their son and their family of 3 was started. Sam is now 6 years old. He is absolutely the sweetest. I took my daughter on the shoot and they were forever friends by the end. Sam is outgoing, he is smart, he loves to talk and he loves chocolate chip pancakes. I wish Wendy all the luck in the world with her new church and her family. She deserves all God gives her and I am thankful I can consider her a friend. Enjoy your photos friend.

Blessings,

-K

yaY and naY

September 14th, 2010 , Posted in Lifestyle photography

I am inspired by other photographers. I love reading other photography blogs and admiring and commenting on their work. Unfortunately in any business there is always negativity but I have found the love and passion of most of the photographers I have met is nothing but generosity and pure LOVE. On that note there are many women I have met through a workshop I attended a few years back by the wonderful Cheryl Muhr. Many of the ladies I have now consider friends I have not ever met in person but I feel like I know their spirit and feel their “vibe” just through emails and posts. One photographer I love for not only her work but her overall sweet self (which you can see through her blog, trust me you will get lost in it) is Rachel Clare  of Corona, CA. One of her posts I love is her two thumbs up and two thumbs down post. I decided to do my version as a yaY and naY post. Things I love. and things that are not so much loved. Enjoy. I hope this helps see a little of “me”….

Enjoy this day.

To be a senior

September 13th, 2010 , Posted in Lifestyle photography

I think it’s super exciting to be a senior. Being the oldest in the school, knowing that college and the rest of your life is in front of you and finally deciding what it is you want to be in this life. I love love love (ok did I say love enough) photographing high school seniors. I feel like I can relate, in some weird way. I “get’ them. I don’t know maybe I don’t wanna admit I’m getting older and photographing them makes me “feel” younger. I met Melissa through a girl I work with. She is her niece. I am beyond honored when someone recommends me to their loved ones or friends. It means the world as a photographer that someone you care about loves your work. It makes it all so worthwhile. Melissa was so fun, and so up for anything. I mean it, ask her! LOL. She is a stunning girl and I feel lucky to now consider her a client and a friend. She even asked me to shoot her wedding someday. LOVE THAT! Enjoy Melissa and may the world be yours. Happy senior year my new friend.

it’s about time…..seriously.

September 9th, 2010 , Posted in Lifestyle photography

I can not believe it’s been so stinkin’ long that I haven’t blogged. I’ve been shooting photos here and there but mostly posting to my photog fan page on facebook and not updating the blog. I miss my blog. I love writing and this gives me the outlet to let it all go so to speak. Alot has happened in my world the past year and I’m finally feeling like I can come back up and breath. Photography has taken a back seat and I miss it, terribly. I got to shoot with the fabulous Rebecca Coyle and my friend Michele Sankey on a sunny summer afternoon and it brought back all the reasons I have such a passion for photography. I bribed  begged my kids to let me take their photos and after promising candy and milkshakes, I got some amazing photos of them. I am back. This time for real.

Enjoy.

a family affair

June 5th, 2010 , Posted in Lifestyle photography
  • I had the joy and honor of being asked by my friend Kelly to photograph her wedding at her home. She wanted something small since it was her second wedding and only wanted the 5 kids, her, her husband to be and a minister. It was a pleasure to meet their family and it so much fun to photograph them. The said their vows on the front porch of their beautiful home and even as the rain fell they continued the ceremony without worrying about getting wet, that’s just the kind of people that they are. Laid back, easy going and no frills. Love that! Thanks guys for letting me be a part of your wedding and I wish you and your  awesome family the happiest, healthiest life with lots of love and good times. Something tells me you won’t have a problem with the good times.

Blessings.
